SHE: Shares With Others

Tuesday, September 26, 2017

Hey Y'all,

In case you are a new friend (& there are a lot of you!! yay!) SHE Degree was started to help other women be the best "SHE" she can be. Whether that is running her home, raising her children, or just starting out in a new home... really any woman of today can benefit.  We want to let her know that she is doing a good job! Our hope is that by sharing our stories and struggles she will see that we are all in this together and sometimes it is hard.

One of my favorite parts is letting you in on our tips and tricks. They are quick and easy things that will make your day to day activities a little more manageable.  Last year I posted a favorite tip that Lisa shared with me.  I have been doing life for quite a few years and this was new to me.
My love for plastic wrap has increased dramatically.

So where do you struggle? Are you just starting out in your first apartment?
New Mommy? Empty nester learning to cook for 2?

We would love to answer any questions you might have. If we don't know the
answer ~ I am sure we have a SHE who will.  Let's give it a try.
What's a tip you would like to share?

xoxo, Amy

SHE: Babies on the Way

Monday, September 25, 2017

Hey *|FNAME|*,

If you are a friend, then you have probably heard our exciting news… (if not surely you have heard all of the squeals!!).  Two of our SHEs are having babies ~ and two of us are becoming Grandmothers!!  We are so excited for our girls and cannot wait to meet these precious babies.  I think I am also a little nervous for myself.

Lisa still has some “littles” at home and a sweet little little niece, so she is still getting a lot of practice with this baby stuff.  I on the other hand practice every 5 weeks at church with my nursery rotation.
And Google and Pinterest can only get me so far.  There are so many new things and rules and must haves and no no’s.  I am feeling a little lost.  Hint, Hint… This is where you come to my rescue.
Of course I know the basics: bedding, changing table/ station, clothes, towels, diapers, diapers and more diapers and of course the sweet baby lotions.  But as far as extra “necessity” items…

Let’s start with new moms:  What is your #1 must have item on your registry? Do you love it?
Now Grands, Aunties or Besties lucky enough to have the baby at your house quite often: What do you have for the baby?  Did you go all out with a fully decorated nursery? Minimal with a baby blanket or two and a few toys?  Swing? Bouncy seat?
I know that I want a good set up for the baby at our house, so when he comes to visit Momma doesn’t truly have to pack up the whole house. But I also know that babies grow so quickly and I won’t be keeping him daily.  (Yes, “our” baby is going to be a BOY).  So I am being practical too.  I am thinking a pack and play like this will be useful for quite a while.  Anyone tried this one?
I am looking forward to hearing from you and getting your opinion on what you like and dislike.  Please share your ideas and suggestions.  That is what makes SHE Degree so fun ~ ladies sharing their tips and tricks with others to help us all be the best SHE we can be!
We will no doubt all sharing Baby info over the next few months, so plan to join in and invite the new Moms in your life to follow us too.

Xoxo,
Amy

SHE loves baby showers!

Friday, September 22, 2017

Don't you love Pinterest? I found all these great ideas on Pinterest.  Pinterest is my go to happy place.  I wish I could stop....but I can't!  I have another baby shower coming up and it is going to be a woodland creature theme.  I cant wait to show that to you!

First, I gave a friends daughter a baby shower a couple of weeks ago.  (Side note:  you know you are old if you are giving friends daughters showers.)  She wanted a Dr. Seuss theme.  So to Pinterest I go....
Several hours later armed with great ideas I head to multiple stores!  Several more hours and I have a house that is quite Seussical!  Let's look at the results:

Here is the table.  We made green eggs and ham (sandwiches), oodles of noodles (pasta salad), truffala seeds (red and blue candies), gold fish (one fish, two fish), Cats Hats (marshmallows covered in red/white chocolate), greens and things (fruit and veggie tray), and last but not least the Thing One cupcakes (red velvet cupcakes with cotton candy on top of the cream cheese icing).

I had so much fun making the diaper cake and the topiaries!  I love Thing One.

I made these arrangements for the table where people sat to eat.

My daughters and I made about 15 of these truffala trees from the Lorax and placed them all over the house!
And no Dr. Seuss themed party would be complete without my favorite quote from Horton Hears a Who......a person is a person no matter how small.

I had a great time!  She received lots of great presents! A good time was had by all. One thing we did ask the guest was to sign a baby book instead of a card.  This way they would always have the book to cherish.

I also learned that we have brains in our head and feet in our shoes and we can steer ourselves in any direction we choose.  We chose to make lots of fun items to celebrate the coming birth of Aiden in Dr. Seuss fashion.

It made me think of my mom and something she always would say.  "Once a job has began, never leave it 'til it's done.  Be it big or be it small.  Do it well or not at all!"
That saying is the reason sometimes I don't clean my house.  I am not going to start something and not finish it.  I am not going to do it well.  So, I might as well not do it at all.  (see above quote!) I might as well play a game with my kiddos or fly a kite!

(I am not going to begin any jobs today....just letting you know!)

SHE: Has a change of plans

Friday, September 8, 2017

Hey Y'all,

This weather has been pretty crazy!  And truthfully,
it has us a little concerned about our
Holiday Open House scheduled for
Tuesday night, 9/12/17.

According to recent reports, we are in line to receive a
fair amount of rain and stormy weather.

We want all of you to be safe, so sadly we are postponing our
Holiday Open House.
We plan to reschedule once we all have a chance to check our planners.
We will send out info this weekend with new date.

Stay safe friends!!

SHE: Holiday Open House

Monday, September 4, 2017

Hey Friends,

We mentioned a few weeks ago that although we had been a little MIA, we were indeed still working hard to grow SHE Degree to the next level.  Well, we are ready to share that we are venturing into the online / retail sales world.  We hope to carry an assortment of seasonal décor, personal and home items, gifts and baby items.  You will be able to order at an event or straight from our website.

(You all do know that we have 2 babies on the way, right?  Courtney is having a little girl in December and Brittney is having a little boy in January.  I told you it’s been crazy busy for all of us this summer. More on that in the blog soon).

To kick this new venture off, The SHE Degree ladies are hosting a holiday open house next week, Tuesday, September 12th from 6-8pm.

We have some home décor items as well as seasonal holiday (Fall, Halloween & Christmas) items and hostess gifts.  Every SHE loves to shop and decorate her nest.  Now we want to help you do that too!

We have a few select items that we will be presenting at the event and they will be available to purchase or order.  Your input is important to us.  We want to know what you think of our items & what other type items you would like to see available.

Please plan to stop by and say hello and see what we have been up to.

Light snacks will be provided.  And of course there will be a door prize!

So invite a friend or 2 and enjoy a little girl time.

For address and to RSVP please send a text to

Lisa (423)774-0210 or Amy (423)240-3240

A few fall events are planned too. So be sure to check the blog for details.  We are so enjoying this road together. It has been such a blessing to all of us.  We can only hope you continue to travel it with us.

Xoxo,
The ladies of SHE Degree
