As for me, I am a stay at home-home school mom, I have a ton to plan!  This week I started planning our school year.  I have all our meals planned for the month of August and that is such a big weight off my shoulders.  I have even made my shopping list.  So glad that is done!  Now I am working on the school year.  I am sitting in my dining room working an hour at a time.  I find that old saying is true...inch by inch it's a cinch, yard by yard it is hard!  If I give myself all week to accomplish the school folders they don't seem like a burden.  (Incase you are wondering my kiddos work by weekly folders.  All the work for each of their subjects is in the folder and they do all the work each day.  They have the option of working ahead.  It really prepares them for college and working from a syllabus.  If they don't get their work done, they lose privileges and have to make it up plus the work for the next week.  I mean your college professor won't care!  This is still a concept the 4th grader is learning but the 9th grader should have it by now.  Life is tough around here, but some days our lunchroom is Chick Fil A!)  We get to go a lot of places and take classes all over town.  I almost forgot I have to plan Karate and gymnastic classes!  We really are not home....not sure why it is called home school!

SHE: Saves the Date

With all the activities we have to keep up with for work, school, church, sports, family… days can get a little crazy.  How do you keep everything straight? I have always used a planner of some sort.  I think it is fair to say that planners are a definite obsession of the SHE Degree ladies, even our “littlest” SHE has her own Happy Planner.  

My planner is functional as I generally get all my events in the calendar.  But when it comes to making my planner pretty, I am definitely not too skilled.  And I will freely admit, I get envious when I see you ladies with your Happy Planner or Erin Condren planner  and your perfectly coordinated washi tape and lettering. Do you???   And don’t even get me started on the adorable stickers!!  I am great at purchasing planners and all the accessories (and yes I generally have a great coupon to use for them), but I am at a loss on how to turn it into a beautiful “spread before the ink”.  That is getting ready to change for me and it can for you too!!

SHE Degree is hosting our first class!!  Planning 101!!  It seems like the perfect place to start. Learning to plan and be organized is so important no matter where you are in your SHE Degree life. I cannot tell you how excited we are about this event.  (Loving!! these Flamingos!)

I have a love for stationary of all types, journals, note cards, planners….  There are so many beautiful papers. Whatever you are writing can be pretty, even "to do" lists. The tips we learn can be used for all your stationary needs.  SHE's know a handwritten note is not only a must, but such a nice touch.  Join us at Planning 101 and learn some great tips to make your days a little prettier too.

SHE: Goes to Cooking Class

Hey Y'all,

Looking for something fun to do that is a little more exciting than going to a movie or the pool? If so, I highly suggest you give the Sweet and Savory Classroom a call.  Owners, Jeff & Heather Pennypacker will not disappoint.

Their classroom is located downtown near Warehouse Row. It is such a neat place ~ all shiny stainless steel with every kitchen gadget you could imagine. With pretty blue and yellow walls and high ceilings.   They offer a wide variety of cooking classes for adults and children.  Ages for children's classes are 8-13 and 12-17, depending on the class or camp you choose. These are very popular and the schedule books quickly, so sign up early if you see one you like.  They offer couples' classes, team building, private parties and children's birthday parties too.  Fun, fun, fun!!

We stopped by to invite them to our event. It was Spring Break week and Chef Jeff  and his assistants were very busy with a kitchen full of young children learning about cooking.  Each student had on their apron and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.  They were so kind and welcomed us to come back and see for ourselves how fun the classes are.

The concept of SHE Degree was quickly explained & they loved it! See, everyone knows how much these skills are needed. But sadly for us, scheduling conflicts prevented them from joining us. (Saturdays are their busiest days, so joining us would be a little difficult for them.) 

However, they still wanted to be a part of the event.  Lucky for you too!  Chef Jeff & Chef Heather generously donated 3 cooking classes to the event!!  The winners were chosen from those who signed up at the market last week.  Can't wait to hear how much fun they had! Lisa and I fell in love with the classroom and we only got to visit a short time. So we will be planning a SHE outing to check it out for ourselves.  Have you ever taken a cooking class? How did it go? We would love to hear from you about your experience.
